LEKfit!

I love to work out and I love mix it up a bit by trying new things. I recently found out about the LEKfit workout. It is based out of LA and the only way to do the class is to go to it in LA or to sign up for their streaming service (15.99 a month, they offer a 7 day trial). Their streaming service offers two live classes a week and a library full of past classes and individual work out videos.

I bit the bullet and signed up for the 7 day trial. I skipped the “beginner” class and dove right into one of their recent live classes. I am still learning the ins and outs of this program, but it seems there are “bounce” days where half of the class is done on mini trampolines and the other half is on the mat. You are able to do this class without the trampoline, you just do all the running and jumping on the ground. The other days are called “sculpt” which is all on the mat, no cardio at all. Then there is a “fusion” class which seems to be a little bit of everything with some dancing thrown in. I haven’t done that one yet.

The first class I did was a “bounce” class. There is no warm up really. You just jump right in, no pun intended. The first 10-15 mins was a lot of running, high knees, jumping, etc. Then they got off the trampoline and picked up light hand weights and did 10 mins or so of arm exercises. Then they went back on the trampoline for a bit and then the leg portion started. I didn’t have a trampoline, so I did everything on the ground. The leg portion consisted of a TON of leg lifts. I have done leg lifts many times in my life, but never like this. They never stop! lol! She will have you do the same motion for what seems like forever (at least 5 mins) and then when your begging for mercy, she will just change the move and you will do that for another 5 minutes. But you never put your leg down, so even though its a different move, your leg is on fire because it hasn’t rested yet. Oh and I forgot to mention you do this with ankle weights on! Then you do the other leg. After that it was back to jumping on the trampoline and then they got off the trampoline and started what I can describe best as a stretching/dance party/ cool down. This workout was killer and I was instantly sore. I could barely walk for the next two days! Every part of my body was sore. Muscles I didn’t even know I had were sore. It was AWESOME!! I love a good workout where you are sore afterwards! I was hooked. The next day I found an awesome deal on a trampoline and bought it (it comes this week. So excited!!)

Today I did the newest live class recording which was a “sculpt” class. This was done just on the mat with ankle weights and arm weights. The class started out with an arm workout section for about 10 mins and then we moved down to the mat. The next 30 or so minutes were killer leg lifts and planks mixed together. It. Was. Hard. Omg was it hard. You are holding up your body with your arms for a lot of it and your leg can only go up and down so many times. lol. It was so hard, but I did it!! The amount of sweat dripping off of you during these classes is insane.

I am completely addicted now and I even though I can’t feel my legs right now, I can’t wait for tomorrows class. I think I’m going to try the “fusion” class tomorrow. I will report how it goes.

So if your a looking for a really good kick ass workout, this is your workout. It is fun and hard at the same time. What I like is that it pushes you. She never stops. Literally never stops. If you need water, grab water, but there aren’t really water breaks. Your body doesn’t stop moving for 50 mins and its intense!

Native Deodorant!

I have been using organic deodorant for over 10 years now. I have had my go-to brand for many years, but I have now found the best deodorant I have ever used! I saw an ad online for Native Deodorant and decided to give it a try. It is $12 AND shipping/returns are free. I figured if it worked horribly, I would just return it.

I placed my order and within two days it was in my mail box. I was super excited to try it and the next day I gave it a true test….I worked out and then worked outside in the Florida sun for a few hours. At the end of the day, I gave myself the “sniff test” and I was so surprised. Not only did I not smell at all, but I didn’t smell like deodorant either. You know that funky used deodorant smell you can get after sweating all day? I literally smelled like nothing. No perfume smell. No B.O. Just nothing.

That was it! I was sold!! Now I am telling everyone about it! I have been using it for a week now and I have had the same results every day. I would say the only thing that I would change about the deodorant is it doesn’t go on the smoothest. BUT it does go on much easier than the Primal Pit Paste deodorant stick.

If you have been wanting to start using chemical free deodorant, but have been scared to try it, this is the deodorant for you. Here is the link if you would like to give it a try: www.nativecos.com They have a trial pack that has 3 full size sticks for $30 (which makes it only $10 per stick). I did not see that option when I first ordered it, but I think for my next order I’m going to give that a try. I have the coconut & vanilla scent. But like I said earlier, I wouldn’t really say there is a scent to the deodorant.

If you give it a try, let me know how you like it!

P.s. This isn’t a paid ad. I just really love this deodorant. 🙂

Nothing Bundt Cakes!

img_3831.jpg

My bestie lives in North Carolina and over the years I have heard her talk about this place called Nothing Bundt Cakes. At her work it was the chosen place to buy cakes for their Birthday celebrations.

About a week ago I heard there was a Nothing Bundt Cakes that opened in Coral Springs. Today was my hubby’s birthday, so I figured no time better than today to give it a try. I live about 30 mins from the store, but it was worth the drive!

The shop is really cutely decorated. They have all their different cake options in the window and you tell them what you want and then they pull the product from the back of the store.

They have Bundlets ($3.95) which are a good 2 person size cake. Then they have an 8″ (starting at $19.95) and 10″ (starting at 29.50) cake that you can serve up to 20 people (for the larger size). They also have little personal size cakes (think cupcake size) called Bundtinis ($19.50 for a dozen). These you order by the dozen and they give you an assortment of flavors.

I can’t eat a lot of sweets, but I had to taste these cakes. We got the Red Velvet and Chocolate Chocolate Chip flavors. We all agreed the Red Velvet was out of this world, but the Chocolate Chocolate Chip was really good as well. There are chocolate chips throughout that are still hard and not melted. Next time we want to try the lemon cake and the carrot cake flavors.

The most noticeable thing about these cakes is they are extremely moist. The frosting seems light, but we were surprised to find that the center of the cake was full of frosting as well. I didn’t eat much of the frosting, but from what I did have, it was super sweet. If you are a frosting lover, you will be in Heaven!

The Coral Springs location (1949 N. University Drive, Coral Springs, 33071) is having their Grand Opening Family Day on July 15th from 10am-2pm. The first 50 people will receive free Bundlets for a year (one a month). They will also have fun stuff for the kids…face painting, etc.

If you are far from this Coral Springs location. I found out there are two other locations in South Florida: Wellington (171 S. State Road 7 #300, Royal Palm Beach, FL 33414) and Pembroke Pines (11966 Pines Boulevard, Pembroke Pines, FL 33026).

If you give them a try, let me know what you think!

Birthday Parties at Michaels!

We have been really enjoying the free classes that Michaels has been offering this summer. Today we went to pick up our project from last week (it was drying) and happened to show up during their slime event. We had already done this event, but they invited us back in to do it again!

While my daughter was making her slime stress ball, I was talking with the teacher and she was telling me they had just finished a birthday party right before this event. I had no clue that Michaels offered birthday parties and asked her for some info. Here is the flyer:

According to the teacher, they have a ton of different themes to choose from and they have something for all ages. They had a party for 12 and 13 year olds the previous weekend. The parties are 1.5 hours and you can bring in food and cake. Here is a link to get more information.

If you are looking for a different party idea, that is affordable, keep Michaels in mind. Looks like a lot of fun!

Contigo Water Bottle On Clearance at Target for $9.98!

IMG_2521

If you know me, you know that when I get excited about something…I have to tell everyone about it! Hence me starting this blog. If you know me, you will also know that I drink an obscene amount of water. I pretty much have water on me at all times or I will die. Not really, but you know.

I have jumped on board with everyone else and purchased the knock off Yeti tumblers. I LOVE how cold they keep my water and the fact that they are so large. They do have some downsides though….I have hit my front teeth on the straw more times then I care to share and also its not something you can take with you to lets say the gym or an outing where you want a drink, but don’t want to carry around this massive tumbler.

Target is currently marking down all of its summer merchandise, including some drink ware. The other day I came across this Contigo 24oz Autoseal water bottle. I initially thought it would be great for my daughter for camp. Its a little large for her, but it would keep her water cold and its easy to drink out of. Then I thought this would be perfect for me for the gym. I purchased one for her and one for me and we both LOVE this water bottle! It is designed so you have to push a button in the back in order for the spout to open. Not rocket science, but it makes drinking out of it while driving or running or whatever super easy.

Now the real question is does it actually keep your drink cold? I noticed ice does melt in it faster than a Yeti tumbler, BUT the water stays cold for hours. I will fill it up before bed and the water is ice cold in the morning. It advertises it will keep your beverage cold for 28 hours.  I have pretty much stopped using my tumblers all together and have switched to this water bottle full time.

I know its crazy to write a post about a water bottle, but I had to share! I am in Target non stop for work and I have seen this bottle in every target in the Boca/Delray/Boynton/Deerfield area. They have a ton, so I’m sure the price will be dropping soon. Currently its $9.98.
